The NASCAR Nationwide Series visited Bristol Motor Speedway on Friday night and, as usual, fireworks were on display throughout the race. Kyle Busch held the lead on the start and was able to keep distance between himself and second place runner Ryan Blaney. However, his run was interrupted on lap 42, when John Wes Townley spun and made contact with the wall on lap 42. Busch was able to continue with his momentum until the competition caution on lap 60, when Elliott Sadler led the field to green on the restart. Sadler held his lead until two successive cautions on laps 86 and 92, with Hermie Sadler and Joey Gase hitting the wall respectively.

Chase Elliott was able to take the lead, but a red flag halted the race on lap 112 for a while after a crash between multiple cars. Following the restart, Kyle Larson was able to take the lead. It was Kyle versus Kyle as he and second place runner Busch battled for position. However, that was interrupted when the caution came back out on lap 185 for a spin by Timmy Hill. Kyle Busch took the lead on the restart again and started to gain momentum. The battle between he and second place runner Ty Dillon was put on hold when the caution came back out twice after Elliott Sadler made contact with the wall and then spun.

Then, with nineteen laps to go, the caution came out again Ryan Blaney made contact with Kyle Larson, who then spun and made contact with Dylan Kwasniewski. Larson had been a frontrunner all night prior to the accident. The green flag didn’t last long, as Jamie Dick and Mike Bliss spun with just under ten laps left. Following a bad restart by Kyle Busch, Ryan Blaney took the lead and went on to win the race.

Kyle Busch, Chase Elliott, Ty Dillon, and Regan Smith rounded out the top five.
