Although academics are a huge part of college life, outside activities can help balance out the demand of school and social life. Many college students would jump at the opportunity to travel whenever the opportunity presents itself. If you are looking to do some traveling of your own, here are the top student travel locations to put on your student bucket list.

New York City, New York

New York City is a very exciting place to be, especially if you have never been before. This can be a fairly cheap trip if you look into all of your options. Depending on where you live, you do not have to fly to NYC. Instead, systems like the Megabus do roundtrips to and from NYC for a low price.

As a college student, the cost is oftentimes a factor when traveling. This is a cost efficient way to travel. NYC offers a ton of attractions and things to do for college students. Once you get to NYC there are plenty of on-foot free tours for sightseeing. NYC is comprised of The Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island, and each of these has attractions and sights to see of their own. There are coffee shops, dance clubs, comedy clubs, museums, Times Square, the Statue of Liberty, and so much more.

NYC is full of history. Many famous people were born in and got their start in NYC. For college students who have the big city dream, NYC is the perfect place to put on your student travel bucket list.

Cancun, Mexico

Cancun, Mexico is another fun place that students should put on their travel bucket lists. Cancun is full of color and rich in culture.  If a student would love to experience the authenticity of another culture, Mexico is a good place to begin. A trip to Cancun is fairly inexpensive as well. Students can stay at a hotel with an ocean view and taste authentic Mexican food. This is also a great travel destination for students who are studying or would like to be immersed in the Spanish language.

One of the best ways to learn a new language is to speak it constantly, and what better way to learn than to be immersed among people who speak Spanish as their first language? Mexico is also rich in heritage and history. The culture is very lively and vibrant. It would be a cool experience for a student to become educated in some of that history. College students are very likely to have a fun time with parties in Mexico as well. The culture, including the food and music, is very rich in excitement.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Another awesome destination spot for students to put on their travel bucket lists is San Juan, Puerto Rico. This is another spot that is rich in culture. Students can relax on the beach and enjoy the sun in San Juan. There are many opportunities to cruise in San Juan as well. There are so many places to choose from for eating and drinking.

San Juan is known for its nightlife, so this aspect of the city night may really appeal to college students. There are also many historic sites in San Juan that a college student may not want to miss. San Juan has a rum factory, rainforests, and also caves. These would all be cool places for a college student to visit and learn more about. College students should definitely add San Juan, Puerto Rico to their college student travel bucket list.

Las Vegas, Nevada

As the saying goes, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right? Vegas has a lot of attractions and excitement for college students. There are always concerts and nightlife activities to do. The nightlife is the biggest attraction of Las Vegas. Outside of the nightlife, the biggest attraction of Las Vegas is the casinos. Some college students may want to try casinos for the first time. Most casinos are also 24 hours so this may appeal to students as well.

When traveling in Las Vegas, students will definitely want to make “the strip” part of the trip. The strip has plenty of fun attractions and historical sites that a student may want to see. There are plenty of museums of all kinds, beach clubs, and aquariums. There are also various places to eat with diverse cuisine.

Maybe you want to join a flight points program and collect so many points that your next trip is essentially free.

Websites like Groupon offer so many amazing discounts and deals on everything, including trips. Some of the prices for trips on Groupon are even all inclusive. For places that are closer to you, consider taking the Megabus or even driving if it is possible. It is a good idea to plan ahead and save enough money to travel. If you ever get the chance to travel as a student, these are some great travel spots for your bucket list.
