This Year's Unpredictable NFL Season

By Andreas Fanos on October 16, 2017

It is safe to say that the NFL has been unpredictable this year just six weeks into the season. A lot of teams that were supposed to be amazing are not that good and some teams that people overlooked and that were looked to not do well are in fact playing well.

There have equally been quite some upsets with underdogs beating amazing competitors. There is a lot of football left to play, but here are some teams that have been playing well that have achieved and have surpassed expectations.

Buffalo Bills

The Buffalo Bills were expected to not be good after losing weapons on the offense, but they have been able to salvage it with superb running back LeSean McCoy. QB Tyrod Taylor has taken a lot of heat for his performance; he has stepped up big time this season to lead the Bills with a 3-2 record.

They are in a tough division along with the New England Patriots and the New York Jets. They could very well reach the postseason if they continue to play how they have been this season.

Philadelphia Eagles

Nobody expected that the Philadelphia Eagles would be 5-1, although they are. They are a dangerous team going forward with a great offense and relentless defense. They have made strides from an okay season last year where they did not reach the postseason. QB Carson Wentz has been playing spectacular and it looks like he is the real deal.

The team has been able to improve their offense and defense with more weapons. This is not the same team as last year, but we will see if they can play well in the playoffs because in history they have not. They also do not have any super bowl rings and it would be nice to get one to grant them a legacy.

New York Jets

It was the New York Giants who were supposed to be the team to beat and who were listed to get into the playoffs; however, the team is now 0-5 and is most likely out of the playoffs. It is due to a combination of factors, but it is counterpart team the New York Jets who are playing well. The Jets have surpassed expectations and have bounced back from plenty of injuries and new additions.

They made a good decision in getting rid of Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall, who have both not played well with their respected teams. The Jets are currently 3-3, although they stand a chance in a tightly contested division to still make the postseason. They have been able to compete with great QB play and rookies that have stepped up big.

Some honorable mentions can be the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Rams, and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
