On Android? Up Your Smartphone Camera Game With This!

By Rene Santana on July 29, 2019

You and your buddy are taking a stroll around the block to the coffee shop and on the way over, you two see the world’s cutest dog. Feeling stuck with your Android’s stock camera, you start wishing you could take awesome photos like that of your buddy’s iPhone.

I got a solution for you. The Google Camera. Not the phone, but the camera itself. Yes, you can indeed download alone and it’s totally worth it.

Why settle with your stock camera when you can show everyone a gorgeous photo of that cute dog you saw? Or of nature?

Or of the night sky.

Speaking of infinite darkness, want to never use flash again? Try out the app’s Night Sight mode. Otherwise, you should be able to take photos in low light and still get decent photos without blinding everyone in the process.

Check it.

I’ve impressed so many people with the photos I’ve shot with the Google camera. Which is surprising considering that some of them were iPhone users. In the end, I’m merely wanting to give hope to those who don’t have an iPhone and had to go with a cheaper option. I once had an iPhone 6 and I took some spectacular photos with it. Now, I have a Samsung phone. With the Google Camera on it, I may not switch back, for a long time.

So, where do you start? The process is easy. Just head over the XDA Developers and find your Android phone on the list. You may have to type your phone model in plus “Google Camera” if you don’t see it on the list. Then follow the instructions to download the APK (Android Application Package), settings, and off you go shooting pictures of whatever your heart’s content.

I know, you may not be understanding the process. The Google Camera isn’t exactly available for download in the Google Play store. But, because of Android’s operating system, you are in a sense able to download applications outside of the play store. If you’re wondering if this is legal, just ask yourself “is it legal to sneak food into a movie theater?” I’ll leave that question up your discretion. But seriously, in this case, it’s fine. The application software has merely been modded and adjusted by developers doing the Lord’s work to help Android users get the most out of their phones.

Now, you could just go out and buy the Google Pixel. If your wallet is tight or you’re not looking to switch, then downloading Google Camera is your best option.
