Tis the season to decorate! Winter is here, and while that may mean freezing cold temperatures and chilly breezes, it also means that you get to decorate your apartment for the winter months ahead of you!

Not sure where to start? Not a problem!

Below are six winter decor items you need to survive this winter!

1. Blankets

Yes, it’s time for the cold to hit us with all its got, which means that you’ll need to bundle up this winter, as best you can! Blankets are not only a great way to stay as warm as possible, no matter how cold it is outside, but they are also a great way to decorate your living room, bedroom and other spaces with little to no effort.

A throw blanket in a contrasting color can make your furniture pop, drawing attention (and envy) from all those that step into your apartment. And if you choose a blanket that’s soft and comfortable as well? Well, you’ll do just fine this winter!

2. Humidifier

The air is super dry, and while most people don’t think of a humidifier as a decorative piece, it certainly is! A humidifier comes in many shapes, sizes and colors, and choose one that also diffuses essential oils can be a two-for-one deal!

These diffusers are not only fashionable and likely to fit in with the furniture you already have, but they are also the most likely to keep your skin soft, healthy and moist throughout the winter months. You’re welcome!

3. Candles

There isn’t a store around that doesn’t have candles on their shelves, and for good reason! They not only spread that sweet, sometimes holiday-themed, smell throughout your home, but they also add a little extra warmth that you could just be craving this winter.

While they aren’t a sole source of heat, they are definitely an added bonus! And plus, they make your space feel cozy and warm, which is perfect for cuddling up for a movie night, or simply having a relaxing and stress relieving night in with yourself. No matter the method to your madness, a candle is a great decorative piece to help you relax and stay cozy!

4. Floor Mats

Winter brings along with it snow, which brings along with it slush, which gets into your house and ruins your floors. Don’t fall victim to these problems again!

Floor mats are a fantastic way to ensure all the elements that are brought into your house stay in one, easily cleaned surface. The only thing you’ll have to worry about is what design you want, which can get out of hand really quickly given the variety of options out there!

No matter what you choose, your floors will thank you!

5. Keurig

No, people don’t think of this as a decorative piece. Yes, it absolutely should be considered one. A Keurig comes in a variety of colors and styles, many of which are fashion-forward and well worth the look.

And, in addition, you’ll want a Keurig in close proximity this time of year, as you can have a warm beverage, whether that’s coffee, tea or hot chocolate, ready to go, whenever you need to warm your soul!

As far as appliances go, this is the most visually pleasing you’re going to find, and the fact that it’s also practical is just an added bonus to keep in the back of your mind!

6. Shoe and Coat Racks

Last, but not least, shoe and coat racks are an absolute must this holiday season. Yes, a floor mat essentially does the same thing, but shoe and coat racks are the perfect places to hang your belonging so that they dry without dripping all over your floors.

So keep the snow and other elements off your home surfaces with these racks (with mats underneath them). Then, everything will not only have its proper place, but it will also stay off your surfaces so that everything stays neat and tidy and exactly the way that you like it!

Again, the winter months can be a bit overwhelming, especially if you aren’t a fan of the cold. Rather than bundling up and hibernating for the next few months, make sure you are decorating your apartment with winter decor items that make you happy and ensure your place feels like home, no matter the weather.

Make sure you start with these six, winter decor items when thinking about decorating your space, but don’t forget to explore other alternatives to ensure your winter months are happy and bright, snow or shine!

Happy decorating everyone! And happy holidays as well!
