Where should I start my search for a part-time internship?
7 Answers
There are some awesome websites out there like indeed and interships.com. Thats always the first place that I look. Otherwise check out your school career center- they should be able to help you out
When it came time for me to begin looking for internships/jobs, I wasn't really sure where to start. A great resource for me was my university's career center, where they not only have advisors that can help you build your resume and help you find an internship, but they also provide an online network where you can create a profile and search yourself! This was a really helpful tool that helped me land a position in my current job. Other resources could be friends or family connections, or separate websites like internships.com and monster.com!

Try asking some of your classmates in your major what where they've interned and how they liked it. You can also use websites like your school's career website or internships.com, but one major benefit of talking to your classmates is that they can tell you what it was like to work in certain positions or for certain companies. While you may not necessarily be able to find an open position at the same company, this will at least give you more of an idea moving forward of what kinds of internships are popular and what you might like.

Many colleges have career centers that can connect you with people looking for interns or point you in the direction of where to look for an internship. You can ask your professors or your friends where they found internships. There are many websites for college students too. WayUp is a great website that finds internships that match what you are looking for and your skills. There are also many platforms dedicated to posting internships and jobs in a certain field.

Look up organizations that you are interested in interning for and see if they have any programs already set up and are looking for prospective interns! Even if the organization does not have a program set up, you can still contact them and look in to the idea of them creating an intern spot for you. Especially if it is unpaid, many organizations will jump for joy if someone were to contact them and be so passionate about their organization and want to intern. Depending on the field, especially non-profits or companies facing social issues, they will likely jump at the chance to utilize an intern.

Go to your campus career center and talk to a counselor about opportunities nearby for part-time internships. They usually know which companies may be looking to hire students or have connections that can help. Additionally, look online using job search engines like Monster or Indeed and filter your search to only include internships. You may also want to tap your college advisor for tips or help to see if they have any leads or could advise you on how to find a part-time internship.
